Specialty Merchandise Corporation Review

Green Apple.

When a successful multi-million dollar company begins attracting harsh criticism, it is easy to assume that where there is smoke, there is fire.  Indeed, on occasions this is a reasonable conclusion. But would it be right to reach this conclusion on the basis of some of the more scathing articles which have appeared on the web in recent years about the Specialty Merchandise Corporation?  In this SMC corp review, we will attempt to answer this question.

Specialty Merchandise Corporation Review : Negative Publicity Online

It is not too difficult to find negative publicity about SMC on the web, partly because it is relatively easy to post opinions and vent emotions on the internet without incurring the wrath of the legal department.  When one looks a little more closely into the more vicious accusations against the company, mentions of Specialty Merchandise Corporation being a scam or that there are unresolved SMC corp complaints out there – it becomes pretty clear that many have come from somewhat doubtful sources. SMC has long established itself as a leader in a cut-throat market while some it of its commercial rivals have resorted to slurs and innuendos on the web to “beat down the opposition.”

Specialty Merchandise Corporation Review : SMC Encourages People

On a general level, some of the complaints about not making any money after joining SMC deserve a more sympathetic hearing. SMC encourages people to set up their business rather than becoming paid sales personnel.  The idea is that in exchange for a subscription to the company, you get access to a vast range of giftware and jewelry products at wholesale prices.  Your job is to sell these on to your own customers at a suitable mark-up – high enough to generate a viable profit, not so high that you put potential customers off.  Any money you make, you keep for yourself.

This sounds straightforward enough and indeed the basic idea is a simple one. There are probably few people who haven’t wondered how their lives might be improved by starting a successful business venture and it is true that SMC appeals to this aspiration.  But does that make it a scam?

The truth of the matter is, nothing in the SMC commercial or on the website is untrue.  People can change their incomes and even go on to run successful SMC-based businesses.  But neither of these options will merely “happen” upon taking out a subscription. As anyone who has tried and succeeded can testify, it requires creativity, stamina and hard work.  One needs to develop and implement an effective marketing strategy that adjusts over time in order to sustain customer interest.  Due research is also needed to work out the best products to sell for your chosen demographic and the best means of selling. (e.g., via your own website, via mail order, via a kiosk rented in the mall, and so on).  The opportunities to make money are there – but there is no way of telling whether it is right for you before you try it.  With determination, work, hard-headed business sense and creativity, however, SMC is a business opportunity which can pay off big.
